Deliverance? – Expert Game Reviews (2024)

After I made a post and a video about the top 5 best swords in KCD, it’s time to make the same list about bows. Kingdom Come: Deliverance has many advantages, but archery in KCD needs to be improved. We can hope that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will improve archery. Nevertheless, we all know this role-playing game is complicated and takes some getting used to. KCD has a steep learning curve for all aspects of combat. I still remember the countless times I died before I realized how to use my sword and shield properly. But even that wasn’t enough against high-level opponents because I didn’t know how to counterattack.

The bows are no different. Warhorse Studios preferred historical accuracy over common shooting techniques. You don’t have a sight, so you must determine where the arrows are going by trial and error. Once you get the hang of archery in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you’ll want to find the best bows.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance – what are the top 5 best bows?

Some of these bows may not be the most powerful in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but they all have the advantages that make them great options at different stages of KCD. Each has its use, so it would be wise to try to collect them all. Even though longbows do the most damage, it is not wise to take them hunting or use them on a horse. They are too slow and there are better options.

Is Capon’s Hunting Bow good?

While Capon’s Hunting Bow certainly doesn’t deal as much damage as the other bows in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, it’s still one of the best. The higher the force required to shoot, the slower the bow’s aiming speed. Sir Capon’s Hunting Bow requires only 5 Strength and Dexterity, which means you can shoot more arrows at any given time. This bow will come in handy for anyone with a penchant for hunting.

There is only one way to get Capon’s Hunting Bow. When you enter into service for Sir Radzig at the KCD, you will have a mission in which Captain Bernard will teach you how to fight and use a bow. Sir Capon will give you his bow if you beat him in an archery competition and duel. In the post below, I talk about this in more detail.

If you can’t defeat Capon in combat, the next best bow to use at the beginning of the game is the Yew Hunting Bow. Capon’s Hunting Bow is a great option until you increase your strength and agility to be able to wield the Sinew Bow or Cuman Bow.

Is the Ash Longbow good?

The Ash Longbow may be weaker than the other longbows available in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but it requires significantly less strength and dexterity to use. The Ash Longbow still has 74 power, so it will always be a viable choice in the middle stages of KCD.

You can easily pick up a Ash Longbow. Many bandits lose this weapon throughout the KCD. You can find them by following the numerous treasure maps, and if you fail, you can buy the Ash Longbow from a hunter in Rattai or Thalmberg. By the way, you can become a huntsman in Thalmberg and get his house with all the goodies to boot. If you’re interested in how to do it, I can write a separate guide! =)

Is the Yew Longbow good?

The Yew Longbow is the most powerful bow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance if you don’t have the From the Ashes DLC. Or if, like me, you decided to build a stable instead of a guardhouse in Pribyslavitz, and this made it impossible to get the Sinew Bow. You can get the Yew Longbow in KCD in several ways. For example, as loot from high-level bandits (a high-level ambush shooter who wears an open bascinet with dark clothing and carries the sword Stinger), or you can buy it from a hunter in Rattai, find it in a chest from the treasure map I, or get it as a reward for winning the Rattai Tournament 14 times.

The Yew Longbow has a lethal power of 77, but it is quite a heavy bow and you will need 15 strength to wield it properly. It is slow to draw, but can hit most enemies if you have the right arrows. A definite contender for second place, but not the best in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Is the Cuman Bow good?

You can find Cuman bows throughout Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Every time you defeat a group of Cumans, check what kind of weapon they are using. There are many versions of the Cuman bow, but if you kill enough Cumans, you’ll find one that has a power of 74. They are all recurve bows and have a half-second faster draw. It seems like a small difference, but it makes a big difference.

If you prefer to shoot from a horse, the Cuman bow will also be the best choice for you. Not all Cumans carry bows, so look for stronger opponents as you progress through the game. You’ll need at least 13 Strength to wield this bow properly, but the Dexterity requirement is only 6.

You will definitely be able to find a suitable Cuman bow during the Nest of Vipers and Baptism of Fire quests.

Is Sinew Bow good for you?

Undoubtedly, the best bow when it comes to damage is the Sinew Bow. You’ll need the From the Ashes DLC to get this bow, but it’s a hell of a shot. No other bow can match its power, but not everyone can wield it properly. You’ll need at least 16 Strength and 11 Dexterity to keep the arrow in place, otherwise the shooting can become extremely chaotic.

When you rebuild Pribyslavitz, select the guardhouse instead of the stables. Then upgrade it so that you have an archery shooting range. From now on, you can buy the Sinew Bow from the archery master or simply steal it from his chest if you have the right skills. With the best arrows, rarely will anyone survive your shot with the Sinew Bow.

This is all you need to know about the 5 best bows in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. As mentioned, it will take you some time to get used to archery in KCD. If you’re not a fan of bows, you can always just run into battle with a sword. If you want to learn about the best swords in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, check out our previous guide.
